Important
information regarding Combo Day / Night
Scopes
There are some
things to keep in mind regarding a day /
night combination scope such as PS-22,
PS40 Night Optics 930, etc.
(or any other combo NV and day Scope)
vs. a conventional Night Vision Rifle
Scope.
When
you are looking through a combination of
a Night Scope coupled to the objective
lens of a day scope, the intensity of
the image that you see in the day scope
will be determined in large part by the
day scope. The best measure is to look
through the night scope without the day
scope. (do this at night, obviously) If
the image is bright but is dimmer when
viewed through the combination of day
and night scopes, the problem is in the
day scope and its ability to pass
light.
Regarding magnification, if you have the
magnification of the day scope cranked
up, the image will be less bright. That
is normal with increased magnification -
that is why day scopes with greater
magnification have larger objective
lenses.

Phosphor Technology© (WPT™).
Studies show that scenes at night time appear
remarkably more natural in black and white versus
the usual green. B&W provides clearer information
about contrast, shapes and shadows. ATN's White
Phosphor Technology© provides users with this
natural B&W Night Vision Image.
The majority of the WPT™ performance characteristics
are on par or better than the latest Gallium
Arsenide based Image Intensifier Tubes. WPT™
specifications include typical resolution of 68lp/mm
(with some over 74lp/mm) and Signal-to-Noise figures
as high as 25.
Operators who tested units, that use ATN WPT™,
reported a significantly better degree of detail,
overall contrast, full-moon similarity and range of
shades. WPT™ provides more discriminating shades of
intensity between white and black than between green
and black resulting in better contrast and depth
perception than when compared to green phosphor
NVGs.
