The Recon 550R is
one of the most compact and unique digital night
vision devices available in the market. The Recon
550R features high light gathering capacity (F/d =
1.0). When combined with large magnification, this
ensures one of the best viewing distances among
budget NV devices. To complete this unique
package, Pulsar has added the capability to record
what you are viewing by adding an internal
digital recording function utilizing an SD card with
up to 4G capacity. The Recon
550R Night Scope is a fully self-contained
night vision device
operating on four AA batteries. The Recon
features a two-tone LED indicator, lit green when
the unit is on, and red when the
night infrared
light is active. The moderate intensity of the LED
indicator will not illuminate the observer.
A Brightness
Adjustment Wheel allows you to control the
brightness of the LCD screen's glow to preserve your
night vision.
An LCD color button controls the color of the screen
glow and also activates the contrast feature.
The Recon 550R is equipped with an
integrated video recorder to capture image observed
and a jack to attach to external sources. The jack
functions both in video out mode and video in mode.
Video-Out Mode allows video recording without use of
adaptors and camcorders or cameras. Video-In Mode
can be employed to transmit image via radio channel
from remote cameras to Recon’s display.
The soft rubber eyecup conceals the light
emission from the tube, permitting the user to
remain in darkness.
The 550R selectable function entitled 'Motion'
is available in digital scopes Recon 550R, X550R,
550R, X550R. This function automatically launches
recording as soon as a moving object appears in the
field of view of device (the unit saves a 5-second
long fragment before an object appears and a
5-second long fragment after the object disappears).
The built-in IR illuminator (805 nm wavelength is
optimal for night vision) permits the device to
operate in complete darkness. Optionally you may use
with the Recon 550R additional, more powerful
infrared illuminators including “invisible” version
(940nm). The Recon 550R has a specially design mount
combining Weaver and 1/4 inch standards to affix
various accessories. The Recon 550R has four working
modes of the display - black and white, green
(regular color for NV), red (reduces eye strain) and
enhanced contrast mode.
